Technical issues at centres from Aberdeen to London were being reported on the first day of the ACCA exams. The big worry is the Monday technical gremlins have returned! PQ magazine has asked the ACCA for an official comment, so watch this space…
AA
It appears technical issues disrupted many AA students on the first day of ACCA exam week. Some students were left sitting a blank screen for more than an hour and a half.
At one centre AA sitters were even forced to evacuate due to a fire alarm going off for 30 minutes.
In the Open Tuition Instant Poll just under 8% of sitter said the exam was a ‘disaster’, with another 26.5% finding it ‘hard’. That left 62.5% saying the December sitting was ‘OK’.
AAA
A weird exam for some, with sitters not knowing how it went!
Called a ‘challenging’ paper, with not a lot of numbers in it.
There were technical issues at a number of centres too. At one centre students due to begin at 1.30pm finally got going at 5pm. And, even then the connection went down again!
One sitter explained they moved computer no less than 4 times. Then after 2 hours the whole room’s PCs crashed and sitters sat unable to do anything for 50 minutes before it restarted again.
In the Open Tuition Instant Poll some 6.25% of sitters said the exam was ‘easy’, and another 47% felt it was ‘OK’. That left 13% having a ‘disaster’ and 34% finding the exam ‘hard’.
TX
This was a ‘hard’ exam for 37% of those who voted in the Open Tuition Instant Poll. Another 11.6% said the exam was a ‘disaster’. This left 49% who felt the December Taxation exam was ‘OK’.
SBL
Overall, this paper was voted ‘OK’ by many sitters. As one PQ said: “Wasn’t actually too bad an exam.”
The examiner asked about franchising, debt financing, equity rights, sale and leaseback, yield management and ethics, ESG for suppliers.
In the Open Tuition Instant Poll, a whopping 61% said the exam was ‘OK’. That left just 20% saying it was ‘hard’ and another 11% who had a ‘disaster’.
