ICAEW unveils its latest prototype software

ICAEW unveiled its prototype software for future exams to rave reviews at its Partner in Learning conference.

The plan is to introduce the software from 2021 with the Audit and Assurance exam.

ICAEW’s Shaun Robertson explained that teaming up with accounting software specialist Inflo would help it test the higher skills employers are demanding.

“We will be able to upskill our trainees, and at the same time enhance the skills of future auditors,” he said.

It means that ICAEW exams will really start to reflect what is happening in the workplace.

Once the software is working well it will be used in other exams, such as Strategic Business Management, and ACA PQs will get to see what is being planned this summer.

The textbooks are going digital. This will help accessibility, explained Robertson.

The learning material will be ‘published’ around September time.

Students will also have access to their own digital bookshelf, where the permitted texts will eventually sit.

It has been estimated the move will save 262 tonnes of paper a year.
