Azets, one of the UK’s largest accountancy firms, is looking to work with the hospitality industry to offer secondments to its trainees.
The UK’s CEO, Peter Gallanagh (pictured), recently told the Sunday Times that Azets is looking to develop its accountancy trainees ‘soft skills’, so they can develop the front of house hospitality-type relationships they will need for the future. That could mean trainees spend more time working for a local hotel, pub, or restaurant, rather than on the spreadsheets.
Azets recruited 384 trainees in 2025, a 15% increase, at a time many of the big firms are cutting back on numbers. Gallanagh told the Sunday Times that once recruited he wants to fast-track these young people into advisory work as part of his push to future-proof the firm.
