It looks like she will have to pay an additional £8,000 in stamp duty penalties, and why oh why, asks da Costa, didn’t she just keep it simple?
She should have kept her personal assets separate from her son’s trust. He believes following her divorce it would have been easier for the couple to divide their assets and enable her to purchase her new property instead of involving her son’s trust.
