Amazon has begun delivering parcels by drones, with Darlington in County Durham acting as the pilot for the new service.
Anyone who lives within the 7.5-mile radius of the fulfilment centre can now have items under 5lbs flown directly to them! Operators will send 10 drones an hour into the sky, which would allow for as many as 100 deliveries a day during weekends.
Amazon said the trial is designed to see how autonomous deliveries could operate at scale in the UK. The company uses MK30 drones, which have onboard sensors, GPS technology and autonomous navigating systems.
