ACCA EXAM FEEDBACK – Day Three

How were the exams on Wednesday? We are talking PM, APM and ATX here…

PM

Some sitters complained there were way too many long calculations to do in the allocated time.

Other students’ hearts sank when a full 20-mark regression analysis question came up.

What was also annoying was the fact there was no limiting factor, relevant costing, or variance analysis questions in some papers.

In the Open Tuition Instant Poll one in five sitters said PM was a ‘disaster’ for them. Another 39% said the exam was ‘hard’ and 40% felt it was ‘OK’.

APM

Students aren’t happy navigating what they think is the awkward exam platform – opening 5-7 windows trying to answer questions. The highlighting tool could also use some functionality improvement, said one sitter.

Spending too much time on section A was the usual student failure! For section B the balanced scorecard and BSG came up.

Another gripe was the fact that the exam didn’t have a good spread of the syllabus.

That said the exam was deemed ‘OK’ by nearly 50% of sitters in the Open Tuition Instant Poll. Another one in three (32%) found the exam ‘hard’, and 15% had a ‘disaster’.

ATX

‘Hard’ was how 44% of sitters voted in the Open Tuition Instant Poll for this December’s sitting. Some 15% admitted they had a ‘disaster’. For 39% the exam was ‘OK’.

One sitter said: “Honestly, I can’t decide whether the exam was Ok or not.” Another sitter felt it was OK, but they were disappointed “about the areas focused on and the areas ignored”. It did not help that they totally forgot how to treat leased accommodation benefit to employers.

A fellow sitter wasn’t sure of passing as a lot of their answers were guesses!
