Just under 120,000 students sat the ACCA June exams, with 136,544 papers sat.
With an average of 1.14 papers per student, that means most students are just taking one paper at a time.
It would be really interesting to discover if, like with the ICAEW exams, the success rate is higher for students who take more exams per sitting.
Some 4,690 students completed all their exams in June, and became affiliates.
Students sitting the Strategic Essential papers this summer had very different experiences. Those sitting SBL said the paper was ‘OK’. However, for many of those attempting to pass SBR the session was a ‘disaster’. The SBR pass rates do show a slight dip – to 47%, but this is nowhere near what many feared. That said you have to go back to December 2022 to find the figure as low as 47%.
The SBL pass rate this time around held steady at 51%.
Looking at the June Strategic Option pass rates, AAA now stands on it’s own, with a pass rate of just 39%. Meanwhile APM at 42% is a rare thing indeed. AFM was a healthy 47%, but ATX dipped on previous success rates, with a pass rate of 47%.
At the Applied Skills Level PM sitters achieved the lowest pass rates for the level – 41%. AA had a pass rate of 47% and for FM it was 48%. All the other papers had pass rates above 50%.
Alan Hatfield, ACCA executive director – content, quality and innovation (pictured), said for the June session there was “ongoing strong engagement with our new CBE Practice Platform, which delivers an improved user experience for students.”
He stressed: “On-demand resources and supplementary live sessions again form a key part of the guided learning support journey ACCA provides.”
Hatfield also pointed out that we are just a year away from the all-new redesigned qualified. Students need to start planning now, and look to use the transitional tool (see next issue of PQ magazine for more on this – out Friday).
