Does it pay to know another language? Well, a new study by Preply has found that UK Au Pairs earn more than people working in the accountancy and the banking sectors! Using salaries posted on LinkedIn and Glassdoor researchers found the average annual salary for an Au Pair was £39,000 compared to the £37,975 average earnt by accountants with no second language ‘required’.

The highest paid bi-lingual job on the Preply list was international sales manager, where the average UK salary was £50,400.

The researchers also discovered that 32% of the richest people in the world can speak another language. Some 23 out of 25 on the World Billionaire List for 2022 spoke English as one of those languages.
