Google goes into AI mode

Google has said it is overhauling its search engine to act more like ChatGPT.

It means users using the AI mode will not be provided with traditional list of links to website. Instead, Google’s AI will generate its own answers using information from what it finds on the web.

Currently Google dominates the search market with 90% of UK queries going through it. Bing and Yahoo only account for 5% of searches.

Google will still offer its traditional search results service, with the AI mode being offered as an option. But Google believes the change is the beginning of a major shift and allow users to find the information they want much easier.
