Jobs market looks bright for PQs in 2022

There may have been a pandemic going on, but salaries for PQ accountants still managed to rise by 3% in the last year, according to the latest Hays UK Salary & Recruitment Trans survey for 2022.

Over the next year, a steady upward trend in salaries is being predicted. Karen Young, UK director for Hays Accountancy and Finance said the survey revealed that over half (64%) of employers awarded their staff salary rises in the last year, however, more (75%) plan to increase salaries over the next 12 months.

PQs however need to take note that the skills that employers are looking for has changed because of the pandemic.

New data and administration skills are coming to the fore, says Hays’ UK director Karen Young. The skill shortages are now affecting 64% of PQ employers, who are struggling to find the right people for the new challenges ahead.

The survey also found that 64% of PQs felt positive about their career prospects in 2022. That’s a notable increase from last year when just 43% felt that way.
