This upgrade ensures that what you study reflects the reality of modern business and equips you to navigate the future with confidence. The syllabus continues to focus on the key roles and responsibilities found in today’s modern finance teams, ensuring that what you learn aligns with what employers need.

Timescale for exam change
The February 2026 Case Study exams will remain under the current syllabus and exam blueprints. From May 2026 onwards, the Case
Study exams for all pathways will incorporate the enhancements, so I’d strongly recommend that you start reviewing them now to ensure you’re fully prepared.
For the Objective Tests, questions on GenAI will be examinable from January 2026.
Other emerging topics (e.g. green finance, environmental costing, and disclosures under IFRS S1/S2) have been examined in Objective Tests since January 2025.
Has exam formats changed?
No, the structure and format of the exams remain the same. However, we’ve introduced enhancements to the verbs used in the syllabus, exam blueprints and exam tasks, and placed greater emphasis on critical thinking skills in the Case Study exams. Make sure to cover all aspects of the upgrade and to give yourself plenty of time to prepare ahead of May 2026.
