Accountancy loses a top scholar and gentleman

Professor Philip Dunn, an ever-present contributor to PQ magazine, sadly passed away on 22 March 2022 after a long illness.

Just last year he was presented with the Editor’s ‘Special Award’ at the PQ magazine awards night, for his 50-year contribution to accountancy education.

PQ magazine editor, Graham Hambly, said: “Phil was a true educator who was always willing to pass on his knowledge. He was also just a lovely man, who deserved recognition for all his hard work.”

A council member of AAT for 12 years, it was while Phil was vice-chair of the education committee that his path first crossed with PQ’s editor. And, they remained friends ever since. He later went on to be vice president of ICB.

A proud Yorkshireman, he lived with his artist wife Kathryn (pictured) in Whitby, and was an active member of Yorkshire Cricket Club.
