Grant Thornton could be the first major accountancy firm to ask staff if they want to reduce their hours or consider taking a ‘sabbatical’, in an effort to help both the business and the staff themselves to get through the crisis.
A spokesperson for Grant Thornton UK explained: “Today we have offered all our employees the opportunity to volunteer for a temporary reduction in their contractual hours or a short-term sabbatical.”
The firm is only too aware that some staff with caring duties were having difficulties coping with the current situation.
