Sorry accountancy isn’t inclusive

Less than 60% of accountants believe the profession is equitable and inclusive, according to a global study conducted by IFAC, IMA and CalCPA.

The authors believe the research results served as a wake-up call for the profession to take action: “We’ve reached a tipping point in which change must be made for the profession to close the gap, not only to survive but to thrive sustainably. The future of accounting and finance rests not only on the shoulders of current and future leaders, but also with others who have a natural role as conveners and drivers of change. This includes professionals, students, academics, and professional associations.”

However, quite a lot of action is needed as they have put forward 79 actionale ‘solutions’.
