ACCA cancels UK centre exams for March sitting

Due to the escalating pandemic in certain markets and increased government restrictions in the UK, ACCA will be running only remotely invigilated exams in the UK.

This announcement won’t come as a surprise for many. The move to remote exams will cover the whole of the UK, including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

Centre exams are also cancelled in: Anguilla, Argentina, Belize, Bermuda, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Montserrat, Peru, Slovenia, South Korea, St Kitts & Nevis, St Maarten, Suriname, Turks & Caicos USA and Venezuela.

Students, including those who have already booked an exam in a centre, will be able to book a remote examination, from January 25.

Speaking of this decision, Judith Bennett, director – professional qualifications says: “We have made a swift decision on the March sitting and are confident that we will be able to offer every student the chance to sit their examination at home using remote invigilation. Our investment and focus on this technology has enabled us to run two full exam sessions remotely already, which was much earlier than we had planned.

“This has provided an immediate solution for students who were unable to sit centre-based exams to help them to keep their learning on track. We believe RI is a viable alternative, and we are grateful to students for their extra flexibility in this challenging period.

“We would ask them to make use of the support and guidance we offer on how to engage with a remote examination, including ‘how to’ video explainers. We will continue to work with students directly and with our tuition partners and employers to help them to prepare.”

Ahead of the March exams, ACCA will continue to monitor all its markets and will make updates as and when necessary if the pandemic situation changes in other places at: (https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/covid-19-exam-availability.html).
